Made in Japan from ubame oak, these binchotan charcoal sticks can be added to a carafe of water, where thousands of microscopic cavities effortlessly remove unwanted toxins and impurities, while softening and improving the water’s taste. The natural sticks can be disposed of in the garden when they diminish in efficacy (about 3 months). Binchotan charcoal is regarded as the most effective type of activated charcoal, revered for its purifying abilities.

- Before use, rinse charcoal sticks under running water and gently brush to remove excess ash. Boil a pot of water and allow sticks to boil for 10 minutes. To use, carefully add sticks to a carafe of cold water. Allow charcoal to purify water for 4-8 hours and enjoy, refilling the carafe as needed. Refresh the sticks every 2-3 weeks. After 3 months, recycle used charcoal sticks by breaking into small pieces and adding to garden soil.
