What’s Happening at Terrain

SPECIAL DINNERS + COCKTAIL PARTIES

Join us for special dinners that range from casual barbecues on the patio to four-course meals in the greenhouse at all our Terrain Cafe locations.

We host celebrated top chefs from around the country, bringing their unique and delicious visions to life in our kitchens; often in conjunction with a recently published cookbook or to bring awareness to a specific cause. Some of our recent favorites include a cocktail party with Martha Stewart, a slow cooker dinner with Hugh Acheson, and a four-course dinner with Edward Lee. We enjoy inviting these chefs to collaborate with our in-house cafe teams to create one-of-a-kind dining experiences for our guests that celebrate food, community, nature, and design. You’ll have the chance to taste local, seasonal flavors shining through innovative dishes while enjoying curated beverage pairings.

We offer seasonal container planting workshops with our master gardeners, natural crafts for the kids, morning yoga in the garden, along with guest lectures from some of the world’s most beloved plants-people – like Great Dixter’s Fergus Garrett, award-winning garden designer Annie Guilfoyle, and the director of the “Five Seasons of Piet Oudolf” documentary, Thomas Piper, to name a few.

Bring your mom, sister, or friend for a terrarium making workshop for your indoor garden or come solo for a lesson in bread-making with our culinary team.

From kicking off garden season at our Dig into Spring festival to ushering in winter’s magic at Holiday Open House, our annual festivals have become beloved family traditions for the local community.

Gathering may look different this year, and we’re approaching the season of celebrating with gratitude + a desire to give back.

With that spirit in mind, join us for a series of virtual workshops meant to make your holidays feel special and as stress-free as possible, from low-key appetizers and beautiful batched cocktails to a single centerpiece to take you from Thanksgiving to the New Year.

100% of ticket proceeds will go to The Share Food Program, an organization fighting hunger in our hometown by distributing millions of meals per month to children, seniors + our most vulnerable neighbors in the Philadelphia region.


Give Thanks: Setting the Holiday Table with Terrain + Anthropologie

Monday, November 16th, 5pm

Want to achieve that effortlessly cool, naturally-inspired Terrain-meets-Anthropologie look for your Thanksgiving table? Join our visual director, Melissa Bartley, and Anthropologie’s senior brand stylist for home, Tom Magill, as they set a holiday table in this workshop. Using a mix of linens, napkin rings, place cards, and natural materials from both brands, the pair will show you how to create a layered, natural table setting, while they answer your questions live!

Join us on Zoom as Terrain chef Jes Bengston welcomes her friend chef Dorie Greenspan to our outdoor kitchen in Westport. Dorie and Jes will each make their favorite holiday appetizer and side dish (perfect for Thanksgiving and beyond!) while they answer your culinary questions. Pick up their professional cooking tips and tricks as you watch; we’ll provide the recipes to attendees after each event so you can enjoy the demo.

A Behind-the-Scenes Holiday Store Tour with our Art Director + Visual Design Team

Tune into Instagram Live at dusk as our art director, Danielle Palencar, shares a behind-the-scenes tour of our Glen Mills, PA store that’s all decked out for the holiday season! Danielle will be chatting with one of our visual design team members to hear how they came up with the installation concepts, hear what their favorite part of the displays are this year, and get inspirational tips for using the ideas in your own home!

Give Thanks: Drinks + Dessert with Mixologist Danny Childs and Terrain Chef Robert Toland

Thursday, November 19th, 6pm

Learn how to create a delicious batch-able cocktail and tasty dessert for the upcoming holiday season with Terrain chef Robert Toland and New Jersey-based mixologist Danny Childs. Robert will show you how to make one of his favorite sweet treats while Danny takes you through the steps of creating a festive cocktail for a crowd using unexpected, natural ingredients. Danny and Robert will answer your questions during the Zoom and we’ll share their recipes after the demos.

About Danny Childs: Beverage columnist for Edible New Jersey and mixologist at The Farm and Fisherman Tavern in Cherry Hill, NJ, Danny Childs is known for creating inventive cocktails using unusual ingredients. Give Thanks: Seasonal Centerpieces with Floral Designer Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht

Monday, November 23rd, 6pm

We’re thrilled to welcome Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht, floral designer and head judge on the Netflix show, The Big Flower Fight, for a virtual seasonal centerpiece workshop. Kristen will be joined by our head plant buyer, Melissa Lowrie, for an inspiring, informative lesson on how to create an organic, modern table arrangement that’s perfect for Thanksgiving and can be transitioned into the winter holidays. Kristen will be using his favorite vessels and preserved stems from Terrain to create his design while Melissa asks him your questions.

About Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht: Owner and creative director of Wild Bloom by Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht, Kristen is a floral designer and head judge on the Netflix show, The Big Flower Fight. His distinctive work has been featured in People Magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, and The Knot. Kristen’s approach to floral design bridges the gap between nature and modern living, mixing an editorial eye with an organic perspective.
