Where We've Been: Iceland

Though there are less than five hours of sunlight on a winter day in Iceland, our ecommerce manager, Lacey S., managed to squeeze in plenty of adventure during her recent journey across the rugged island. Arriving in time to ring in the New Year with traditional bonfires in Reykjavik, she set off to visit the towering Skogafoss Waterfall; relax with a lobster stew lunch in the town of Stokkseyri; hike a glacier in Skaftafell National Park; and walk the black beaches of Vik, a tiny village in the shadow of a volcano. Lacey described the ever-changing landscape of mountains, windswept coastline, and moss-covered lava crags as beautiful but intimidating, like traveling through Game of Thrones. She added that her off-season visit offered a chance to be alone in the landscape and to hike in places that would be off limits at home, offering a uniquely personal journey.
