A May Day Bouquet

One of our favorite occasions of the year, May Day marks the arrival of longer, warmer days and more time in the garden. On May 1, we're planning to celebrate with May Baskets, old-fashioned gifts of fresh blooms and small treats left on someone's doorstep. Traditionally, May Baskets are delivered in secret on the morning of May Day; the giver hangs their basket over a friend's doorknob, then rings the bell and disappears before the recipient arrives at the door. To create our basket, we tucked a handful of fresh anemones inside an easy-to-hang bag with extra room for a few sweets. We also love the idea of stowing your bouquet in a reusable tote to make a more lasting May Day gift for friends and neighbors.
