Spiced S'mores Kits
Not just for kids anymore, these grown up treats use spiced chocolate ganache to take old fashioned s’mores to a new level. Once prepared, we love the idea of packaging individual servings of ganache in our favorite 7.4 ounce Weck jars, then cozying up the individual servings alongside graham crackers and marshmallows in pint-sized, paper berry baskets to set out on a table near the fire pit. Below, check out our ganache recipe along with a list of all the supplies you’ll need to create s’mores kits for your next fireside gathering.
S’mores Kits
(makes 4 s’mores)
8 graham crackers
4 marshmallows
1 paper berry basket (available in craft stores)
1 serving of ganache in a Weck jar
Tuck your ingredients into the basket, then finish each kit with a strand of twine or ribbon, knotted around a tiny serving spoon and a fresh cinnamon stick.
Spiced Chocolate Ganache
9 ounces of high quality dark chocolate, roughly chopped
1 cup heavy whipping cream
4 to 5 star anise pods
2 to 3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon dark rum (optional)
First, combine spices and cream in a bowl and refrigerate overnight.
To make the ganache, place the chocolate in a heat proof bowl. Heat the cream and spices in a saucepan over a medium-high heat until the cream begins to bubble slightly. Immediately pour the mixture through a sieve into the bowl of chocolate and let it sit for 2 minutes. Add the dark rum (if desired) and stir the mixture until it reaches a smooth, silky consistency. Pour the finished ganache into Weck jars for easy serving and storing.
