Digging into Spring
As seen in the photos above, our recent weekends have been spent celebrating spring! We welcomed the arrival of garden season at our annual Dig into Spring Festival, held on April 23 in Glen Mills and April 30 in Westport. Visitors at both events enjoyed afternoons filled with seasonal treats, inspiring workshops, lots of local friends, and even a few baby goats. Events Manager Diane S. shared some of her favorite moments from both festivals-- we're already looking forward to next spring's celebrations!
Diane says, "We welcomed so many wonderful friends to the Glen Mills festival, including the Brandywine Beekeeper's Association, Bee Raw Honey, jewelry designers Ria B. and Hattie Weselyk, and the Greener Partners Farm Explorer Truck. Farmaesthetics stopped by the spa, where they offered facials featuring some of their newest formulations. Everyone enjoyed the abundance of treats, too! The Garden Café hosted a pig roast, Pizzeria Vetri's food truck offered freshly-baked slices, Victory Brewing joined us for drinks, and Weckerly's Ice Cream provided sweet sandwiches and scoops of seasonal flavors. The highlight of the day for many guests came from The Farm at Doe Run, who brought along newborn baby goats that put a smile on every face.
"In Westport, lots of familiar faces also joined the party. Sweet Paul stopped in to share tips for decorating gorgeous spring sweets, while Connecticut native Frances Palmer offered a trunkshow of beautiful ceramics. Muddy Feet Flower Farm was on hand with bright bouquets of spring flowers, and live music played throughout the day. Many attendees made their own hanging baskets for Mother's Day gifting, and even more enjoyed treats from the café and cocktail samples from Owl's Brew. As always, both weekends were a wonderful way to get back into the garden and welcome spring!"
