2 Summer Cocktail Recipes with our Web Merchandiser, Michelle Garrett
As the Terrain Home Office continues to work from home, many of our team members are finding simple ways to stay creatively inspired in their day-to-day lives. Michelle Garrett, our web merchandiser, has been crafting the most delicious drinks to enjoy sans alcohol during the afternoon or with extra spirits for happy hour. She’s shared two of her favorites with us here; each inspired by a sweet dose of nostalgia for time spent at her family’s home in Florida during the summer.
Blind Pass
“My family lives on Captiva, an island off Florida's Gulf Coast. The bridge connecting Captiva Island with Sanibel Island is called Blind Pass. It’s where you find all the best shells (ed note: Michelle comes from a family of serious seashell enthusiasts). And just like the bridge itself, I think this savory, herbal concoction is a hidden gem of unexpectedly beautiful notes.”
1 oz rosemary simple syrup (recipe below)
2 oz Garden Herbal Seedlip
1 oz gin (optional)
Splash club soda
Blue basil, rosemary, garlic scapes, radish for garnish
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add the rosemary simple syrup to the bottom of the glass first to get the layered look. Mix the Grove Herbal Seedlip and gin together in a separate glass before pouring over the rosemary syrup. Finish with a splash of club soda and a garnish or two!
Rosemary Simple Syrup
Combine equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves. Add rosemary sprigs and let simmer for up to 30 minutes. Take off heat, strain, and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Pelican’s Roost
“Everyone on Captiva Island names their homes—my family’s is Pelican’s Roost. Since I can’t visit them this year like I normally would, I came up with this drink as a way to celebrate my best memories. It’s summer in a glass and reminds me of sitting on their porch, enjoying cocktails and each other’s company before heading off to dinner.”
