A Conversation with Diva Pyari of Linea Carta

A few words on the inspiration behind her beautiful linen napkins, from creator of Linea Carta, Diva Pyari.

terrain: What most influences and inspires your designs?

Linea Carta: Although I always have a keen eye on the design world, I value the natural world so much! I hike or run in the hills or by the bay every day with my two cutest-ever dogs, Henry and Nico. Their joy as they run free full speed ahead, the luminous green of a canopy of trees in the sun -- this is the feeling and beauty I want to share.

terrain: Outside the studio, what could we expect to find you doing on a day off?

Linea Carta: My boyfriend and i take the dogs to the beach!  last weekend we took a picnic lunch to crissy field beach in San Francisco, then, after hours of stick throwing, stopped in Japantown. I love to go to the Kinokuniya bookstore & stationery shop (I might treat myself to a magazine and stock up on my favorite drawing pens, the hi-tec). 

terrain: Obviously, we are quite fond of your beautiful linen napkins – they set such a nice tone for a warm dinner party. What other elements make up a lively dinner party in your mind?

Linea Carta: Friends and family of course! And always a treat is seasonal fresh produce -- we are lucky to have amazing farmers markets here in berkeley. Also, living in Italy I developed a taste for the aperitivo: that evening-light mingling time with friends to start the night off easy and fun. My favorite aperitivo this summer has been lillet over ice with a strip of orange peel (sweet and refreshing with a bite!).
